On the advice from a fellow sex-worker, I tried advertising in Montreal's 24hrs free paper, distributed in the subway system every weekday. He was getting a lot of calls from it, and a lot of clients. I decided to give it a try.
This will be the 4th week, and so far I got nothing but weirdos, looking for girls or something completely off. I had not received a client, and advertising was at $25/day. So I decided to cancel my subscription.
Every Spring I try something new for advertising. Sometimes a promotion like 30 min specials (since I regularly charge in whole hour increments) is very successful, however they do not tend to target my ideal demographic.
I think the reason my friend's ad worked so well for him is because he only does erotic massage for $60. This price attracts a completely different clientele, but according to him and my estimations, he has twice as many clients than I do, but charges half as much per client (on average). I tend to think of myself as lazy, so working twice as much for the same amount doesn't appeal to me at all.
Over the years I have tried many advertising strategies, and most of them prove to be failures. However, it does add to the excitement of doing things your own way, and seeing the results for yourself. Im learning all the time from this experience!!
